George Wald (18 Kasım 1906 – 12 Nisan 1997), Yahudi kökenli Amerikalı bilim insanıdır. Retina pigmentleri üzerine yaptığı çalışmalarıyla bilinir. 1967 yılında Haldan Keffer Hartline ve Ragnar Granit ile birlikte Nobel Fizyoloji veya Tıp Ödülü kazanmıştır.
Biyografisi
Wald, New York'ta Yahudi göçmeni bir aile olan Isaac Wald ve Ernestine Rosenmann çiftinin oğlu olarak doğdu. O, 1922 yılında New York Brooklyn Teknik Lisesi'nden mezun olduğunda burasının ilk mezunlarının bir üyesiydi. Bilim lisansı derecesini 1927 yılında New York Üniversitesi'nden ve zooloji dalında doktorasını, Columbia Üniversitesi'nden 1932 yılında almıştır.
