EU Tauri är en variabel stjärna i stjärnbilden Oxen. Med en ljusstyrka som varierar kring en skenbar magnitud på 8,07, är den för svag för att vara synlig för blotta ögat. Baserat på parallaxmätningar beräknas avståndet till stjärnan vara ca 3 900 ljusår, men den rör sig närmare solsystemet med en radialhastighet av ca -2,5 km/s. Stjärnans position nära ekliptikan innebär att den är utsatt för månockultationer.
Stjärnans variabilitet rapporterades först av C. Hoffmeister år 1949, som senare rapporterade den som ickevariabel. Den klassificerades av F.B. Wood et al. år 1963 initialt som en förmörkande dubbelstjärna av typen W Ursae Majoris, baserat på observationer av T.A. Azarnova år 1950–1951. Analys av fotoelektriska data av E.F. Guinan år 1966 tyder på att detta istället är en variabel av cepheidtyp med en kort pulseringsperiod av ca 2,105 dygn. Han förfinade denna period till 2,1051 ± 0,0004 dygn år 1972.
En studie av ljuskurvan för denna och andra cepheider år 1981 visade att den tillhör en liten grupp med ovanligt kort period och distinkt beteende. Detta tyder på att EU Tauri kan vara en "första övertons"-pulsator. Gieren och J.M. Matthews föreslog 1987 att stjärnan istället kan ha två pulseringsperioder, men detta motbevisades senare. Bevisen stöder nu mestadels idén att stjärnans pulsering är i ett "radiellt första övertonsläge". Variationen på 1 procent i radien under en pulseringscykel är relativt liten för en stjärna av denna klass. År 2007 angav spridda observationer över en 35-årig tidsram att pulseringsperioden för denna s-Cepheid kan ha förändrats.
